It was fun the other day being a part of the quest for two authors to break the Guiness Book of World's Records for most interviews done in a 24 hour period. They ended up with 112, breaking the previous record of 72. We happened to he interview #72 which ad us tying the record. Itis kind of neat knowing that we were a part of it. Such great response to two recent guests: James Frey and Willard Groom. James Frey was the author who wrote A MILLION LITTLE PEICES which Oprah picked as a book club selection. She raved about it but thenfound out that the 'memoir' was half made up. James Frey was forthright in answering questions about how that incident changed his life and even answered the question as to whether the 'memoir' which was half fiction, inspired him to write a real work of fiction. His neewest book BRIGHT SHINY MORNING was a best-sellere. While he hates to talk about the incident and 'loathes' the media, he said his experience on the show was a good one. It was too much fun to have Willard Groom on the show...the author of FORREST GUMP! I had so many people tell me how much they enjoyed that conversation. A down home southern gentlman for sure. You know, Forrest Gump was out for years before it became abest-seller. It wasnt until the movie camp out that it really started selling and it hasn't stopped. While he writes historical books now, one thing h did say about the famous "Life is a box of choclates' line. He didn't write it! That was one of the many things they added to the screenplay, but he doesn't care. The film made him a legendary author and his book a classic!
