If you've driven by the Village of Savoy Municipal Center off of Route 45 recently, you might have noticed that the Veteran's Memorial is once again standing.
The memorial was knocked over during a storm in late May and was damaged. A new one was put up last week.
Savoy American Legion Post 1492 Commander Ron Karr says the design of the new memorial is mostly the same as the previous one. Karr says the village acted quickly to erect a new one.
Hear from Ron Karr.
Karr says there are repairs in the area surrounding the memorial that still need to be made. He says the damages occurred when the granite structure fell onto the pavement below.
He says steps have been taken to make sure the new one is more stable and to try to prevent it from being knocked over again during windy conditions.
The memorial is expected to be rededicated at a Veteran's Day ceremony in November.
