Homecoming parade ready to step off tonight

This year's University of Illinois Homecoming Parade gets underway tonight at 6 p.m.

It will begin at the corner of Sixth Street and Taft Drive and head north, making a right turn onto Armory Drive before taking a lap around the Quad via Wright Street, Green Street, and Matthews Avenue.
If you're driving around Champaign, you'll want to avoid those streets tonight during the six o'clock hour.
Drake Robards is the chairperson for the "Greeks Support Homecoming" group that organized the parade.
He says that it's great to see fraternities and sororities come together each year to support the parade, but there are others that ensure that the parade successful as well.

Hear from Drake Robards.

Robards says this year's parade has 71 entries, which is more than last year.
The parade will culminate with a pep rally on the Quad at 7 p.m., with appearances by coach Ron Zook, the football team, and the Marching Illini.

Saturday's Homecoming football game vs. Northwestern kicks off at 11 AM at Memorial Stadium.

I wish I could attend this event if not busy in my garden room at that day, well I will just reschedule all my appointments for that day to get there.
